These
are one pair of Great Grandparents on my mother's side of the family.
The young girl in this photo (who appears to be about 5-6 years old)
is "Stella," my Grandmother Kirkpatrick. [This photo was taken
about 1890.]
|
And
these are my other Great Grandparents on my mother's side. The young
boy who appears to be about 7-8 years old is my Grandfather Kirkpatrick.
[This photo was also taken about 1890.]

This
is a black & white photo of Grandma Kirk ("Stella
Kirkpatrick") taken in 1951.
|
This
is my Grandpa Kirk who I never met. This 'colorized' photo was taken
about 1937. He died of colon cancer in 1939 (five years before I was
born).

These
are my SNIDER Grandparents (Edward M. and Carrie L. Snider) on my father's
side of the family on the day they were wed in 1906.
|
This
photo of my MOTHER was taken about 1917 when she was living with her
mother and father (plus up to 10 other brothers and sisters) in a wooden
house in the country that had no electricity or running water. He favorite
pet was the little PIG which she is holding!

| This photo of my grandfather Snider was taken around 1930 when he owned a small Sunoco service station located in the country approximately 10 miles outside Springfield, Ohio. At that time, he lived with my grandmother on a small farm located only a few blocks down the road from the Sunoco station. |
These
are my real father's parents (Edward M. Snider and Carrie L. Snider).
This photo of them was taken in 1943the year before I was born!

|
My
real father had abandoned my mother and I when I was born and his parents
took my mother and me into their home. We lived with my grandparents
until my mother remarried when I was about six years old.
|
This
is a studio portrait of my grandfather Snider, Pappy.
|

|
My
mother, Agnes (4th from the left in this photo), was one of ten surviving
brothers and sisters in the Kirkpatrick family). This photo of the family
was taken in 1952 at my Grandma Kirk's farm near Marysville, Ohio.
|
This
is my grandmother Stella Kirkpatrick (my mother's mother) and it is
the only decent COLOR photo that I have of her.

In
1956 my SNIDER Grandparents celebrated their "Golden (50th) Wedding
Anniversary" in their home.
|
This
photo was taken in June 1962 at my High School Graduation party reception
which my mother and step-father (Fred) had for me and my
friends in our house.

|
In
June 1966 I received my BS in Business Administration from Wittenberg
University. My parents and grandparents were VERY proud of my accomplishment
because none of them had had the opportunity to attend college. And,
I could not have done it without their financial help and moral support!
|
My
grandparents limited financial help in conjunction with my having
earned a scholarship (as well as a special educational tuition reduction
based on my Grandfathers being an employee of Wittenberg) enabled
me to attend Wittenberg university.
|

|
This
photo of them together was taken in 1966/67. It is the last photo I
have of the two of them together since my grandmother Snider (born in
1883) died in 1967 while I was in Miami, Florida working on my MBA
|
My
grandfather Sniderin his late 80's in this photowas still
mentally & physically in GREAT shape. He helped me cut back the
hedges at my parent's house in Springfield during the fall of 1969 before
I left for a four year Navy tour in Japan.
|
||
|
Grandpa
Snider (or "Pappy") continued to be quite active and still
able to get around very well even though he was in his late 80's at
this time.
|
Unfortunately,
Pappy (born in 1882) had died in 1972 before I returned to the US at
the end of my four-year Navy tour at Atsugi, Japan .
